Appeal to find dog after owner hit by suspected drink-driver in Laddingford near Yalding

A nervous rescue dog is still missing after its owner was hit by a car at the weekend.

A group has been set up to help find the pet after a woman was hit by a suspected drink-driver when walking in Laddingford, near Yalding, on Saturday.

The owner remains in hospital and one of the dogs she was walking at the time, Bibi, has been found but Rosa is still missing.

She is a 10-month-old female cross breed with grey, black and white colouring. She is very nervous, especially around men.

She is a rescue dog from Macedonia so her breed is unknown.

In a post on the Facebook group, a volunteer wrote: "Please can we request that no sightings are posted on social media.

"Rosa will need those she knows to get her safe and sadly lots of people rushing to an area could place her in harm's way.

"We don't encourage active searching as a dog needs to settle or make their own way home, which they will if left alone. Please just go about your business as you would normally."

If a sighting is made, people are being advised not to call, chase, run after or follow Rosa.

Instead, you should note a time, the location, the direction the dog is headed, behaviour, and take a photo before ringing 07718 229188.

Rosa has distinctive markings on her legs and has half a tail.

It is believed that she was wearing a red harness before she went missing, and that she would have had two leads attached – although she could have chewed them off if stuck.

It is a double-ended lead meaning it is a big loop which could easily get caught on a branch or fence.

If anyone finds one similar, or a discarded harness and leads, they are being asked to let the group know.

The group also asked people to check footage from the day.

In a post, they wrote: "Please can everyone check any dashcam footage, CCTV, Ring doorbells, and wildlife cameras for any signs of Rosa on the day of the RTA in the area of Emmett Hill Lane/Claygate Road and all surrounding areas from 6am onwards.

"It's quite possible you have caught her without even realising it. Please let us know anything you think could help even if you're not sure – it could be a vital piece of information we are needing."

They are also asking farmers, walkers, dog walkers, bird watchers, horse riders and land owners to keep a look out as the area Rosa went missing in is very rural and extremely hard to cover.

If anyone has any information, contact the Rosa Missing - Laddingford ME18 group on Facebook, or call 07718 229188.

Police are appealing for information after the incident between 6.15am and 6.25am on Saturday in Laddingford.

The driver, a man in his 30s from the Staplehurst area, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and bailed to return to the police station on April 3.

Officers are appealing to anyone who saw what happened, or has relevant dashcam or CCTV footage, to come forward.

Call the appeal line on 01622 604100, quoting reference 46/7954/23.
