A popular hair and beauty salon is set to close after almost 40 years.
Bosses at Antoniou Hair and Beauty say the branch in Harbour Street, Whitstable, will shut its doors for the final time on July 31.
The salon opened in 1984 – 16 years after the launch of the company's flagship branch in Canterbury.
It was briefly taken over by Robert Mitchell Hairdressing in 2008, but was later brought back into the Antoniou fold.
Speaking on Facebook, the team posted: “It is with a heavy heart that we inform you all that we will be closing Antoniou Whitstable permanently from July 31.
“We would like to thank all of our wonderful clients, past and present, for your continued loyalty and support throughout the years.
“With love and best wishes to you all.”
The business also has salons in Orange Street, Canterbury, and West Street, Faversham, which will remain open.
Loyal clients and former members of staff say how much the popular salon will be missed.
Robyn Wood said on the post that the “very sad news” will leave a “big hole” in Harbour Street, adding: ”Had some of my best and funniest memories - working here for 13 years was great.
“Made some great friends and met some lovely clients along the way.
“Wishing all the staff the very best moving forward.”
Sam Surbey said: “So sad to read this today.
“I started there in 1992 and spent 20 plus years there, great memories made so many friends.”
Paulette Stubbings wrote: “I’m so very sorry to hear that - a great salon with the most wonderful staff.
“I imagine a difficult decision given the times we are in, but wish all the staff the very very best.”
"This is very sad news indeed. I have been a client since moving here 15 years ago,” added Michelle Gallagher.
The news came as “quite a shock” to Carol Stone, who said: “I know this decision would not have been taken lightly.
“Wishing the staff all the very best in the next chapter of their careers.”
