First properties at 60-home Highlands Grange development at former Harrington's Nursery in Swanley on market

The first homes at a new housing development at a former plant nursery have gone on the market.

Bellway acquired the five-acre site of Harrington’s Nursery, in Highlands Hill, Swanley, in June 2022.

The 60-home estate, to be known as Highlands Grange, will have 36 two, three and four-bedroom houses for private sale, and 24 affordable homes.

The properties will be available through shared ownership or low-cost rent.

Some of the homes are now for sale after a launch event held on Saturday (January 27).

The site has an existing paddock, which will be retained to provide a new public open space with wildflower planting and a community orchard.

Highlands Grange will also have features such as bat and bird boxes, insect hotels, habitat piles and hedgehog highways.

All homes will have an electric vehicle charging point.

Full planning permission was approved in December 2020.

Sales manager at Bellway Thames Gateway James Pitt said: “Harrington’s Nursery was a very well-known business in the area and we are taking this five-acre brownfield site and transforming it into an attractive new neighbourhood bringing much-needed housing.

“This development is designed to provide a sustainable and ecologically friendly environment to benefit wildlife and also to encourage residents to connect with the natural world on their doorstep by providing green open space to explore.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming the first visitors to the site at the launch and starting the process of helping people find their new home here.”
