Christmas opening times and dates of Kent farmer’s markets

If you’re looking to stock up on fresh produce in time for Christmas, there’s no better place than a farmer’s market.

Kent has plenty of local markets with independent food and drink traders throughout the year - but where and when can you find them in time for Christmas?

We’ve got a full list of all the farmer’s markets in the county in the week leading up to the big day, right up until Christmas Eve.

Some of the times and dates of the markets have shifted from their usual weekends, so it’s worth checking the list to see what time your nearest market will be open.

A number of the markets will also have seasonal pop-up stands, additional vendors and festive activities for their Christmas dates.

Deal market, at Union Road, will have a special Christmas-themed market on Christmas Eve with an extra 15 stalls selling last-minute food, drink, gifts and crafts.

The market in Knockholt, at Coolings Gardener's Garden Centre, will be celebrating the season with a visit from carol singers, who will be performing a programme of your favourite festive songs from 10.30am.

And, finally, the Sevenoaks market at Reuthe’s The Lost Garden will have its own Santa’s Grotto for children to visit. On select dates, there will also be special Breakfast with Santa and Storytime with Mrs Claus events.

Kent Farmer's Market Association Chairman Bob Taylor, who also manages the award-winning Shipbourne market near Tonbridge, has recommended a number of local products that can be found at this year's Christmas markets and will make the perfect addition to your festive feast.

For a tipple, Bob recommends picking up a bottle of sparkling wine from Sanden Vinyard in Groombridge at the Penshurst, Shipbourne, Hildenborough markets, or an apple brandy or Wealden rum from Shipborne-based Greensand Distillery.

When it comes to Christmas food, Bob has suggested a slice of cheese from Sevenoaks' Winterdale Cheese at the Shipbourne, Hildenborough, Penshurst and Wateringbury markets; smoked salmon from Mikey's Plaice at the Shipbourne and Hildenborough markets; and all your Christmas Day meat, including turkey, gammon and pigs in blankets, from Renhurst Farm, based in the Weald, at the Shipbourne and Penshurst markets.

In addition to Bob's recommendations, there will be a huge variety of tried and tested producers selling a range of food and drink at all of the farmer's markets across the county in the coming weeks.
