MORE than 20 firefighters battled to control a blaze at an industrial estate on Monday afternoon.

A 200m exclusion zone was set up around Asbestos Removal Ltd, on the Ellingham Industrial Estate, Ashford, and staff were evacuated from neighbouring workshops after fire broke out and it was reported gas cylinders were inside.

After controlling the blaze in a corner of the workshop, firefighters monitored the area and when a second fire started in a neighbouring unit they used breathing apparatus to extinguish it.

A 12-hour watch of the site was set up and police attended to help manage traffic flow.
