Field fire in Challock destroys six hectares of corn field

Five fire engines and 25 firefighters have dealt with a blaze in a corn field.

Crews were called to the field in Challock at 5.16pm.

An all-terrain vehicle and bulk water carrier were brought in to help deal with the flames.

The farmer helped by using his tractor and plough to create a fire break within the field.

Crews were stood down at 6.35pm but damping down took a further 30 minutes.
