Kent Fire and Rescue Service rescue boy at William Harvey Hospital, Ashford, with fingers stuck in coffee machine drip tray

A teenage boy had to be freed by firefighters when he got his finger stuck in the drip tray of a coffee machine.

The 14-year-old got into the predicament at home and was taken to Ashford’s William Harvey Hospital where staff called for help when they were unable to free the finger.

Crews arrived at the hospital at 11pm last night and quickly released the boy.

Watch manager Clive Douglas said: “It happened at home and he just put his finger through a gap in the tray - we don’t know why.”

The unusual rescue operation comes just weeks after gym-goer Deb Jarvis got her fingers stuck in holes in the wall at Ashford’s Stour Centre.

Her story inspired us to compile a list of Kent’s strangest rescues, which included a girl stuck in a drain, a teenager wedged upside down between rocks and a child trapped in handcuffs.
