Armed police descend on Ashford street

Armed police were scrambled to a house to deal with a disturbance and have found a gun.

The force was called just after 10am today.

A Kent police spokesman said: "A firearm has been recovered by officers and a man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

"No injuries have been reported.

"Officers, including armed officers, attended and remain in the area where they are conducting enquiries to establish the circumstances."

Asked if the gun was fired or seen during the incident, the spokesman said these would form lines of enquiry.

Witnesses reported seeing around four armed response vehicles and two ambulances at the scene.

One said they saw officers rushing into a house, adding they were dressed in black and "all arrived with guns."

A number of police remain focussed on a house and can be seen speaking to the occupants.

A heavy police presence remains in the area.
