Army called in after bomb discovered in Ashford garden

The bomb disposal unit was called after an unexploded device was found in an Ashford garden.

The device was found yesterday at B&B Singleton Manor, off Tithe Barn Lane, by someone using a metal detector.

Both police and the bomb disposal team were called to the hotel at around 4.30pm.

Nearby Cuckoo Lane was closed while the device was dealt with, but no homes were thought to have been evacuated.

The army safely detonated the device just before 6.30pm.
