Ashford's Leon Camier and his Airwaves Yamaha team-mate James Ellison scored a win apiece in the latest round of the British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park on Monday.

Championship leader Camier, pictured, won the opening race with Ellison third, but was disqualified from race two on the final lap. With smoke emitting from his bike, Camier ignored flags demanding he pull off the track and crossed the line only to be stripped of the win allowing Ellison to take the victory.

Pole-sitter Camier dropped a couple of places at the start of race one but took the lead on lap four and remained unchallenged to take his 15th win of the season by more than seven seconds.

Camier once again fell back into third at the start of race two, but soon hit the front. When Ellison slotted in behind his teammate the Airwaves Yamaha team looked set for their seventh one-two of the season before Camier’s disqualification.

Camier said: "It felt really good to stand on the top step in race one, especially after having so much bad luck here in the past. But of course I'm really disappointed about being disqualified from race two.

"I felt more comfortable on the bike, my lap times were better, and everything seemed to be going exactly to plan. Unfortunately I misinterpreted the rules - it's just one of those things.”
