Ashford Town players go into Saturday’s Ryman League Division 1 South, Kent derby at Chatham looking to end a run of nine defeats in 10 away games this season.

Steve Lovell’s side sit fourth from bottom and have still only picked up a single draw away from Homelands this season after Tuesday’s 3-0 loss at Walton & Hersham.

However, Hugo Langton, standing in for the absent Lovell on Tuesday, insisted: "The mood in the camp is okay. We had a pretty honest and frank chat at the end of the game."

He said: "The players know that they have to go out and compete from the first minute on Saturday.

"They understand there are several things they need to do better – they need to press better, communicate better. Tuesday night was a kick up the backside.

"On Saturday the players have to take on board what we tell them. They have to go out and do the job."

Town could be missing in-form striker Joe Fuller (foot) and goalkeeper Seb Barton (groin) on Saturday after they picked up injuries on Tuesday – the first time this season that Ashford had boasted a fully-fit squad.
