Ashford's Leon Camier will miss the World Superbike season finale at Magny Cours this weekend after admitting defeat in his bid to overcome injury.

The 23-year-old will remain on the sidelines for the Final Round of the 2010 Championship in France after suffering a broken wrist after an accident in qualifying at Germany’s Nurburgring earlier this month.

The injury kept Camier (pictured) out of the penultimate round at Imola last weekend and will also prevent the Aprila Alitalia rider taking part in France.

The reigning British Superbike Champion has already signed a contract to continue with the factory Aprilia team for next season and took the decision to miss Magny Cours with the support of his team with an eye on recovering for the start of winter testing.

He said: "I’m obviously disappointed at not being able to race this weekend but I need to be sensible about the situation.

"I’d be taking a chance by coming back too early and risking further damage to the bone which could result in a long term problem, and it’s really not worth it.

"The team and I have made the decision together and agreed that it’s best to wait and focus now on our winter testing schedule."

Camier said his first season in World Superbikes has been a learning experience for him.

He said: "It has been a real learning curve for me not only getting to grips with the bike, but also riding the circuits for the first time.

"I’m already looking forward to next season and can’t wait to get back on the bike. I intend to come back stronger than ever in 2011."
