Bomb scare in Mabledon Avenue, Ashford

Army experts and the police were called out this morning following a bomb scare in Ashford.

An explosive device was discovered in Mabledon Avenue in Willesborough.

Police were called to the scene at 9.25am to a report that a member of the public had found what was believed to be a wartime munition.

Police called the army's explosives ordnance disposal team who attended and removed the device.

The Army MOD confirmed that it was an old, empty World War Two shell.

Kent Police Ashford tweeted about the incident this morning to thank the army unit.
