Blaze engulfs Mitsubishi L200 at junction of Stone Street and Blindhouse Lane, Monks Horton

A pickup truck flipped onto its roof and burst into flames in a hit-and-run crash in the early hours.

It happened at the junction of Stone Street and Blindhouse Lane, Monks Horton, just after 3am today.

Firefighters put out the flames and no occupants were at the scene by the time they arrived.

Ashford Fire Station crew manager Tim Hanley said: “It appears that occupants had left the scene and police were called to investigate.”

Fire crews tackled the flames with a hosereel and a compressed air foam system but the Mitsubishi L200 was destroyed. No other vehicles were known to be involved.

Two fire engines were called out, from the Ashford and Aldington stations.
