Back in the summer of '69 Broadhembury holiday park was little more than a sheep field.
Forty years on it is the region’s top caravan site.
It has been a long journey for Keith and Jenny Taylor, who bought the 10-acres of sheep meadow, chicken sheds and pig sties near Kingsnorth, in 1969.
Four decades later and the holiday park, which celebrated its birthday last week, has been judged AA campsite of the year for South East England and Practical Caravan magazine’s South East regional winner 2009.
The park celebrated its achievements with Ashford MP Damian Green.
Jenny Taylor said: “We have come a long way from a sheep meadow where a few people pitched their tents to a five-star caravan and camping park with self contained, centrally heated holiday homes for sale and to hire.
“We look back and wonder where the past 40 years have gone and then we remember all the happy times and wonderful experiences we have had. We look forward to the years ahead and to making 2009 extra special.”
