A driver is believed to have escaped serious injury after their car flipped in a crash with a van in a village.

Police were called shortly before 4.30pm to Charing, near Ashford, after reports of a collision between the two vehicles.

Officers and paramedics have been sent to the scene at the bottom of the High Street.

Witnesses reported seeing the car on its side but a police spokesman confirmed no major injuries have been reported.

An ambulance spokesman said: "One ambulance crew attended the scene after reports at approximately 4.25pm of a collision involving a van and a car.

"A man was assessed and treated at the scene but declined further hospital treatment."
