Crash at Drovers roundabout, Ashford

A suspected drink driver has been charged after crashing into traffic lights at a roundabout.

Police and KCC Highways were called to the Drovers Roundabout at Templar Way in Ashford at 3.45am on Saturday.

No injuries were reported, but 51-year-old Paul Humphries, of Wilson Avenue in Deal, has since been charged with drink driving.

He has been released on bail to appear before Folkestone magistrates on Wednesday, September 20.

Pictures from the scene show the damage to the traffic lights, with skid marks across the roundabout and debris in the road.

KCC Highways has warned drivers to approach the roundabout with caution, as the traffic lights pole has been destroyed and will need to be replaced.
