Man taken to hospital after accident on M20 near Junction 10 at Ashford

A man has been taken to hospital after being involved in an accident which saw a vehicle “leave the carriageway” and career into some trees.

Police were scrambled to the scene of the crash on the M20 coastbound, just after Junction 10A at Ashford, at 2pm.

Pictures taken from the scene show a vehicle which had gone into some trees on the side of the road.

A spokesman for the police said: “Kent Police was called at 2pm on Saturday 25 May to a report a car had left the coastbound carriageway of the M20 between junctions 10 and 11.

“Officers, fire crews and paramedics attended the scene where a man was treated for a head injury.

“He was taken to a local hospital for further medical attention and Highways officers arranged for the vehicle to be recovered.”

One lane remains closed and coned off with National Highways traffic officers at the scene.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Two fire engines attended, and crews removed a door of the car, and one person was passed into the care of SECAmb paramedics.”

The ambulance service was approached for further information.
