Neil Cugley was full of praise for his young side after they bounced back quickly from defeat at local rivals Ashford to win at Ryman League Division 1 South leaders Worthing on Saturday.

The Folkestone boss admitted he needed words with his players in the Homelands dressing room after the 1-0 reverse last Wednesday to register a 12th away win of the season.

Cugley (pictured) said: "We hadn’t played well for a few weeks before and I felt our season was dragging on - we looked tired and jaded.

"I told them that we had set our standards this season but had dropped below them.

"Credit to them for the way they responded and we now have to keep it going for the next five weeks. Getting in the play-offs should be in our sights and if we get there it will be a great achievement."

Invicta meet Maidstone in the quarter-finals of the Kent Senior Cup at Buzzlines Stadium on Thursday, before the visit of fourth-placed Fleet Town in the league on Saturday.

Cugley added: "It will be good to get into semi-finals, and even the final and we will be trying to do the best we can.

"We might make a couple of changes and then think about the Fleet game. We defended well when we won 1-0 in August but they are experienced in the play-offs having been in them for a few years."
