Folkestone manager Neil Cugley expects striker Paul Jones to be fully fit for the first time in almost a year – as long as he watches his step on holiday.

Jones is back in action after recovering from an ankle operation and has impressed in pre-season training.

He’s just gone away for a week and Cugley is keeping his fingers crossed he returns in one piece.

The Invicta boss said: "I’m so pleased to see him back training after everything he went through last season.

"Knowing him he’ll probably get injured on holiday – he’ll trip over a sand castle or something!

"He’s been training ever so well and has shown great determination to get back. I’m sure there are players out there who would have called it a day.

"He’s a good target man who holds the ball up so fingers crossed he’ll stay fit for the whole season."

Cugley’s small squad will be busy in the early weeks of the new season.

They’ve been drawn away to Ryman League new boys Herne Bay in the preliminary round of the FA Cup on August 25. And they’ll take on Merstham at home in the FA Trophy preliminary round on September 15.
