Folkestone Invicta head into their FA Trophy first qualifying round match against Worthing this weekend as favourites but it’s not a tag that sits comfortably with boss Neil Cugley.

Ryman League, Premier Division Folkestone have already been knocked out of the FA Cup by lower league opposition and last season’s surprise promotion means the pressure is on Cugley’s side again.

Worthing are mid-table in Ryman League, Division 1 South.

Cugley (pictured) said: "It’s strange for us to be in this situation because we’ve always been the underdog.

"When we have to take the game to other teams we’re not always so good.

"There are expectations on us because of what league we are in but in a lot of ways we’re not Premier Division standard.

"It does put more pressure on us because of the league we are in, yet we haven’t got a big squad or a big budget. We’ll still be expected to beat Worthing as we are at home and we’ll be favourites."

Favourites or not, Cugley and his team will be going all-out for a win, as he knows the financial rewards of the national competition.

The winners of Saturday’s first qualifying round game bank £2,200.

Folkestone could have Rob Kember back in the side this weekend as players begin to return from injury.

Paul Jones, Olly Bartrum and James Dryden are all expected back in successive weeks.
