Folkestone Invicta boss Neil Cugley was delighted to see Jimmy Dryden score his first goal of the season in the 1-1 Ryman League Premier Division draw against Wealdstone at Cheriton Road on Tuesday.

The injury-ravaged striker responded to Cugley’s pre-match gee-up by putting Invicta in front after eight minutes, but the main talking point came shortly afterwards when visiting keeper Jonathan North stayed on the pitch, with only a booking, after appearing to floor James Everitt in the box.

Cugley said: "Nobody likes seeing players sent off, but I think he should have been, and even their bench were getting the substitute goalkeeper ready.

"Jimmy and I go back a long way and I had a few words with him, but he went out and proved a point. His general play was very good. I wanted him to be a bit stronger and he kept the ball very well.

"Robbie Kember missed the Wealdstone game with a thigh injury, but Cugley hopes he is fit when Roland Edge starts a three- game ban on Saturday week after being sent off against Cray

Simon Austin, unavailable in midweek, should be back for the trip to Tooting on Saturday.

Cugley said: "We have got to start winning games against mid-table sides. We seem to adapt well against the better teams, but have got to be more resolute against those who play more direct."
