Four men arrested after armed police called to Lydd

Armed police officers were called to Lydd today after a member of the public reported seeing people with a gun.

Around a dozen officers, including a firearms unit, were called to the A259 Dymchurch Road where a silver Renault Megane was stopped at just before midday.

Kent Police spokesman Jane Walker said: "Officers stopped the vehicle and recovered an air pistol and a number of items believed to have been stolen."

The items suspected as stolen were said to include a mobile phone and a camera.

Four men were arrested and are currently being questioned in custody.
