Reports were soon flooding social media after the equine escapees made their way towards the Orbital Park, and police were quickly made aware.

Thankfully, officers were able to recover the two terrified horses and take them to safety.

A spokesman said on twitter: "Officers were able to catch and bring these horses to a place of safety this morning.

"Obviously they didn't understand the #StayHome advice!"

This is the third time in a few months that motorists have had a night-mare on the roads thanks to horses.
