Outbuilding fire in Hythe Road creates huge plume of smoke above Ashford

A large blaze along a main road has been tackled by firefighters.

Three fire engines attended a fire in Hythe Road, Ashford, which began at 3.21pm.

Centred on two outbuildings, it is not known what started the fire.

A fire service spokeswoman said: "Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of two outbuildings alight in Hythe Road, Ashford.

"Three fire engines attended and crews wearing breathing apparatus used main jets and hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze.

"There were no reported casualties and the cause has not yet been confirmed."

Crews left the area at 5.30pm.
