Scott Porter hopes his team’s experience from last year’s FA Cup journey will ensure his players avoid taking any teams for granted.

Hythe go into Saturday’s first qualifying round against Kent League Erith & Belvedere boosted by their first away win in the league on Tuesday night but wary of slipping up against lower league opponents.

Porter, the Hythe manager, said: "We know from last year that we shouldn’t take anyone for granted.

"We won’t take them lightly because we know as the underdog they will raise their game. We have to be up for it and make sure we do our jobs properly."

Porter’s side head into the match buoyed by a 2-1 win over Eastbourne Town on Tuesday night in Ryman League, Division 1 South.

Craig Thompson scored for Hythe after just three minutes but Eastbourne were level five minutes later. The winner came in the 81st minute, through new signing Laurence Harvey, after the goalkeeper failed to deal with a long throw from Aaron Lacy.

Porter (pictured) said: "After the disappointment of only coming away with a draw from the match at the weekend, we showed great character and belief to bounce back with a win.

"We are three games unbeaten now and that gives us something to build on."

Captain Dave Cook returns this weekend from suspension.
