Ashford Haribo launch attracts East Grinstead sweet fan

The highly-anticipated opening of a sweet shop has prompted one sweet fan to travel over 60 miles.

As Haribo welcomed customers to its Ashford Designer Outlet store for the first time, one excited shopper had done more than most to make it to the front of the queue.

Jodie Buttle, 23, set off from East Grinstead just before 8am to make it to the Ashford shopping centre in time to get one of the hundred goody bags available to the first visitors.

After making the journey with dad Clive, she arrived at 9.30 to be one of the first in line at the 11am opening.

She told KentOnline that she'd come "with the great persuasion of a free goody bag. I just love sweets."

Ms Buttle, said she'd read about the store's opening online, and was very excited about the launch of Kent's first Haribo store.

Only four other Haribo outlets exist in the UK, with branches in Yorkshire, Cheshire, London and Somerset.

Each features a pick 'n' mix wall filled with classic confectionary such as Tangfastics, Supermix and Starmix.

Haribo merchandise is also on offer alongside a range of Seasonal exclusives, vegetarian and halal sweets.
