Ashford ebay seller re-lists copy of 'survivor issue' of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo on eBay

An eBay seller from Ashford has re-listed a copy of the 'survivor issue' of Charlie Hebdo after someone placed a fake £100,000 bid on the item.

The magazine was put on the online auction site by seller, dukesofhazardbosshogg, yesterday - the same day it went on sale in France.

The auction started at 99p, but within hours had reached sums of £5,000, £10,000, £15,000, £20,000 and £90,000.

The bidding war ended at 6pm last night after receiving more than 30 bids and reaching £100,000.

The seller, who wished to remain anonymous, today called the large bid 'malicious' and 'fake' and has now re-listed the magazine on the site, again with a starting bid of 99p.

They said: "This auction was maliciously up-bid to £100,000."

They added the original listing of the 'survivor issue' of the magazine was in 'all honesty' and they had received some support from people.

They also described the attention since posting the item as a "whirlwind".

The description on the site states the seller will donate a "significant proportion" of the final sale to the victim's families.

It says: "We feel this is an important moment for freedom of speech and a significant proportion of the final sale price will be donated to Charlie Hebdo magazine who we trust will distribute this money to the victim's families, may they rest in peace.

"Je suis Charlie"

The current bid stands at £10.50.

The item is due to end tomorrow at around 10.30am.

Seventeen people were killed in France last week, including 12 people who were shot at the Charlie Hebdo offices in Paris.

People queued at kiosks across France yesterday morning for the first edition of the weekly to go on sale since the attacks.

Some newsagents reported selling out within 15 minutes.

The demand prompted bosses to order a further two million copies of the special edition, meaning five million went on sale in total.
