Man charged after drugs raids in Smarden and Bethersden

Detectives have charged a man after class A drugs plus weapons such as a knuckleduster were found in raids.

Officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate searched a property in Smarden and an industrial unit near Bethersden on Thursday morning.

More than 60kg of suspected amphetamine, more than 1kg of suspected cocaine, a large amount of cash as well as weapons were seized as part of the operation.

David Allen has been charged with possession of cocaine and amphetamine with intent to supply, possession of criminal property, a knuckleduster and CS spray.

The 53-year-old, of Green Lane, Marden, appeared before Medway Magistrates' Court today and was remanded in custody to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on August 29.
