Leon Camier will miss the Italian round of the World Superbike Championship this weekend as he continues to concentrate on a successful recovery from injury.

The reigning British Superbike Champion, from Ashford, is on the way back from a broken wrist sustained during a crash at Germany's Nurburgring in the last round.

He said: “I’m obviously really frustrated not to be racing this weekend (in Imola).

"We were on such a positive run of form, but it’s definitely the right decision.

“So far my recovery is going according to plan and I’m pleased with how things are progressing but both Aprilia and I think that it’s best to wait until I’m 100 per cent before I go back out on track.

"I’m just at the start of my career in World Superbikes and it’s not worth the risk of setting back my recovery, or worse, injuring myself further."

A decision is yet to be made on whether Camier will ride at the final Championship round in France on October 3.
