M20 lorry fire: Highways issue warning after lorry catches fire between junctions 9 and 8

A lorry was destroyed this morning after catching fire on the M20.

Police and firefighters from Ashford were called to the motorway between junctions 9 and 8 at around 8.15am.

The cab of the truck was well-alight when they arrived at the incident, which happened around five miles after the turning for Ashford.

Crews wore breathing apparatus and used a compressed air foam system and hose reel jets to deal with the flames.

The blaze caused delays in the area, with Kent Highways warning drivers to approach the road with caution.
