Delays on M20 near Ashford after car hits barrier

There were severe delays on the M20 after a car hit the central contraflow reservation.

Traffic built up in both directions while police attended at the scene on the coastbound carriageway between Maidstone and Ashford.

The two-car crash between Junction 8 and Junction 9 caused a large backlog in the Operation Brock contraflow.

The temporary barrier, which separates the carriageway into two lanes running in each direction, was moved by the collision.

Traffic was temporarily held on the coastbound carriageway and, while vehicles are being allowed through in that direction, delays still remain in the area.

One lane was also closed on the Londonbound carriageway to allow for crews to re-align the barrier and check for any damage.

All restrictions have been lifted in the area and traffic is beginning to flow, but residual delays still remain.
