Man charged after staff at M&S Food in Ashford threatened with knife

A man has been charged after reportedly threatening shop staff with a weapon.

Daniel Martin has appeared in court after members of staff at an Ashford M&S Food shop were threatened.

Police were called to the M&S Food store on Warren Retail Park at around 4.30pm last Wednesday, after a suspected shoplifter reportedly pulled a knife out when stopped by a member of staff.

Martin was arrested and charged with two counts of threatening a person with a bladed article and one count of theft.

The 38-year-old, of no fixed address, appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, where he was remanded in custody.

The case will next be heard at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday, May 16.
