Man charged with firearm offences after armed police spotted in Sheldwich Close in Stanhope, Ashford

A man is set to appear in court on suspicion of imitation firearm offences after armed police were spotted in a residential street.

More than 10 officers and police dog teams were called to Sheldwich Close, Ashford, yesterday afternoon.

Residents told KentOnline the road in Stanhope was blocked by police as neighbours were told to stay in their homes.

Now, Shaquil Buckley has been charged with two counts of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

A police spokesperson said: “The 27-year-old, of Sheldwich Close, Ashford, is due to appear before Folkestone Magistrates' Court on Thursday, February 22.

“The charges relate to an incident in which two people known to the suspect were allegedly threatened at an address in Ashford on Sunday, February 18.”
