Ashford High Street assault: Police charge Daniel Groom

Police have charged a suspect with three assaults and seized a hammer following an attack which left a man with multiple injuries.

Daniel Groom, 33, of no fixed address, was charged in connection with the incident which took place in Ashford High Street at 9pm on Sunday, May 28.

A 50-year-old man suffered cuts and bruises, and the next day officers charged Mr Groom with the assault.

He was also charged with possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, going equipped for theft, and with a third count of assault in connection with an incident in Station Road on Thursday, March 2.

Police held him in custody, and he was due to appear before Medway magistrates via video link today.
