Holly van der Beeck, from Godinton Park, Ashford won £300 on kmfm Drivetime’s game Gone in 60

An Ashford mum who won a £300 shopping spree in a kmfm competition plans to treat those less fortunate than herself this Christmas.

Holly van der Beeck, 40, from Godinton Park, won kmfm Drivetime’s game, Gone in 60, in November.

Her reward was £300, which she has chosen to spend in Tesco to buy food for those in need during the festive season.

She said: “One of the reasons I was so pleased to win is because I can now afford to help a few friends out who are struggling.

“I also want to buy some food to donate to the Ashford Family Foodbank, who I’ve seen collecting at Tesco Park Farm.

“I have given some food to them already, but now I can add a bit more.

The aim of Gone in 60, which is presented by Rob Wills, is for participants to answer as many general knowledge questions as they can in one minute.

Mrs van der Beeck managed to correctly answer an impressive 13 questions when she played last month, which included: What is Freddie Flintoff famous for?; what is the name of the coffee shop in Friends?; and what is a pink lady?

However, as another entrant scored the same result in November, Mrs van der Beeck, who has a 10-year-old son, had to wait to see which of them would be announced the winner.

She added: “It was quite nerve- racking. I’d actually entered the week before but as another lady had also answered 13 questions, they had to randomly select a winner.

“I was so pleased. It is such a good time of year to win, too.”

This was not the first time Mrs van der Beeck entered the competition – last year she was in the lead to win a Playstation 4 but was beaten at the last minute.

Gone in 60 is played Monday to Friday on kmfm Drivetime with Rob Wills from 4-7pm.
