Stuart King's stoppage-time equaliser earned Folkestone a point at Ramsgate on Tuesday night and sent them top of the Ryman League, Division 1 South table.

And nobody was more pleased than boss Neil Cugley with the long-serving Cheriton Road boss admitting he wondered whether there would be a club in the summer, following the departure of several officials.

He said: "I think the situation was harder than when we were operating under the CVA because at least we had people to do the jobs then.

"We didn’t have anybody at the club at all at one stage but then Mark Jenner and Richard Murrill came in.

"My objective at the start of the season was just to survive, so to be top makes me absolutely delighted."

King’s (pictured) 93rd-minute strike ended four games without one, his longest goal drought since joining Invicta from Thamesmead last year, on what was a difficult night for injury-hit Invicta who had Frankie Chappell sent-off for two bookable offences.

Cugley said: "The goal came late but the draw was deserved. I thought we should have had two penalties, the first when Kingy was pulled back and then when Richard Atkins was fouled."

Invicta travel to Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday.
