Pensioner 'assaulted' in ASDA supermarket in Ashford

Officers are investigating an alleged assault on a man in his 80s at a supermarket in Ashford.

The attack happened at the Asda supermarket in Kimberley Way.

Police say enquiries are ongoing and CCTV from the store is being reviewed.

It happened at around 6.30pm on Tuesday, January 31, but details have only just emerged.

The victim, who asked not to be named, said the incident occurred following a dispute with a family also shopping in the store.

He said: "All I felt was this big shove. I banged my head on the shelf."

The man went to hospital for a check up the next day after waking up with a bad headache.

He continued: "The staff from Asda were absolutely fantastic.

"I would love to thank the customer, a tall man, who helped me."

Asda has been contacted for comment.
