Ashford: Dad Elliott McNeill has Ford Ranger stolen from Invicta Motors on Orbital Park

A dad's pick-up truck was stolen from a car dealership after it went in for a service.

Elliott McNeill, 34, dropped his white Ford Ranger at Invicta Motors on the Orbital Park, Ashford, last Wednesday.

The pick-up required a filter change and he had arranged to collect his vehicle the following day, but when he returned to collect the truck, he was shocked to discover it had been taken.

Garage bosses say they have done everything they can and have reviewed CCTV footage.

Mr McNeill said: "The staff called me into the office when I arrived and said that the car had been stolen.

"It had been taken away in the night.

"I just cannot believe it, how can you have a car stolen in a secure car park?"

Mr McNeill, who lives in Bridgefield, claims a £300 pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses, a drone and football boots were locked inside the vehicle, along with his nine-year-old son's Christmas presents.

The father-of-one, who works as a director at a tyre manufacturing company, added: "Ford reported it to the police but gave them the wrong number plate so that slowed things down.

"They didn't even provide me with a courtesy car. It feels like they've just said 'your car has been stolen, off you go'."

Paul Elligate, general manager at the Ashford branch, says CCTV shows the pick-up was towed away.

He said: "I have looked at the CCTV and reported it to the police.

"We have done everything we possibly can and now it is in the hands of police."

A police spokeswoman confirmed an investigation has been launched.

She said: "It is believed the car was stolen overnight between Wednesday, January 16 and Thursday, January 17 and may have been towed away from the location by another vehicle.

"Inquiries are ongoing to review all CCTV opportunities and anyone with information should contact us."

Anyone with information that could assist with the investigation is asked to call police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 17-0512.
