A man has been arrested after a police chase ended in a dramatic crash.

The suspect was tracked down by officers after trying to flee the scene of the smash in Ashford.

The late-night chase kicked off after the car failed to stop for officers at around 11.40pm in the Sevington area.

Following what police describe as a "short pursuit", the VW Passat then crashed into a building near Crowbridge Road.

Debris could be seen scattered around the car, the front of which had been completely destroyed.

The suspect, a 24-year-old man, attempted to flee the scene but was chased down by officers on foot.

He was taken into custody on suspicion of dangers driving and failing to stop for police.
