The fallen are remembered in big parade through Ashford town centre and two minute's silence held at the town's War Memorial

The fallen from two world wars and other conflicts were remembered as hundreds gathered to pay their respects at Ashford's annual Remembrance and Armistice Day ceremonies.

The main service, held on Sunday, was led by Canon Colin Preece of St Mary’s Parish Church and included the traditional laying of wreaths.

Army, Navy and Royal Air Force Cadets paraded from the Territorial Army Centre, off Chart Road, to the Memorial Gardens, in Church Road, for the service.

There they met with Royal British Legion (RBL) members as well as the wreath layers, who included the town’s MP Damian Green, Mayor Cllr David Smith, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Kent Colonel Peter Bishop and RBL Ashford chairman Cyril Bishop.

The traditional two-minute silence was observed at 11am.

An Armistice Day ceremony was also held at the same venue on Monday. It was again led by Canon Preece, and was attended by the Mayor, RBL members, residents and around 150 youngsters from Willesborough Junior School.
