A20 Hythe Road, Ashford: Crash and oil leak close road

A little boy has been taken to hospital with a head injury this morning after a crash.

Police and crews from Kent County Council were called to Hythe Road, near the Pilgrims Hospice, and were seen clearing away debris and diverting traffic.

It is understood a car and van collided causing an oil leak and the road was closed between the hospice and Highfield Lane.

The child was taken to the William Harvey Hospital by his father, but the extent of his injuries are not known.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 8.16am to reports of a collision involving two cars and van on the A20 near Pilgrim’s Hospice.

"It is understood a child was taken to nearby WHH with a head injury."

One ambulance crew also attended and another person was taken to the William Harvey Hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be serious.

A recovery vehicle was called to the scene and members of Kent Highways dealt with the oil spillage.
