Ashford Household Waste Recycling Centre reopens after fire

A rubbish tip has reopened following a fire.

The Ashford Household Waste Recycling Centre on Brunswick Road was closed over the weekend following the blaze, which started at 2.30pm on Saturday.

Crews put the fire out within an hour, but remained on-site through the weekend to dampen any hotspots.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

The incident came on the hottest day of the year so far, with 30C temperatures affecting most of the county.
