Scott Porter is looking to bolster his squad with another signing as Hythe maintained their push for the Ryman League Division 1 South play-offs with a 1-0 win at Burgess Hill on Wednesday night.

Striker Brendon Cass scored the winner for the second successive game at Leylands Park, the victory putting them fifth in the table.

Boss Porter (pictured) is ready to move as Nick Barnes is still waiting for a scan on his knee injury and has put in a seven-day approach on another midfielder with a rival club.

He is also watching the situation surrounding on-loan Gillingham striker Ashley Miller after the teenager was made available on a free transfer by the League 2 leaders.

Miller completes his first month at Reachfields on Saturday when Hythe travel to Leatherhead.

Porter watched the Surrey club lose 4-1 at Ramsgate on Tuesday.

He said: "It is always beneficial to watch future opponents and get a heads-up on them.

"Ramsgate got in their faces, stopped them playing and they didn’t like it. They also conceded three goals from set pieces."

Porter said: "A few results went our way on Saturday and again on Tuesday night but things are getting tight and we have got to capitalise on our games in hand."

Jake Hobbs is unavailable on Saturday and Porter hopes the rest will help ease his troublesome hamstring problem.
