Kent residents enjoy snow from Storm Darcy

An avid skier has grabbed the chance to get out on the powder... a little closer to home.

Clement Pradier filmed himself shooting down Wye Crown hill, a little way from his favourite Alpine slopes.

While the famous chalk crown can normally be seen from miles around, it was not the main attraction today as locals travelled up the hill for sledding.

Mr Pradier said: "I am a keen skier, I try and get to the Alps at least once a year.

"It is of course unlikely that i will be able to go abroad to ski this winter due to Covid so when the snow fell here in Kent I decided to grab my skis and walk up the Wye Crown.

"I wanted to take advantage of this rare opportunity, and do something that not many people will have done before.

"Unfortunately there are no ski lifts!"

People across Kent have been taking advantage of the heavy snowfall.

Fellow skier and Whitstable resident Amy Moore decided to race down the hills at Tankerton.

Elsewhere, Westgate mum Jodie Clay and her sons spent the day building an igloo.

Proudly presenting her boys' efforts, Ms Clay said: "The igloo took a long time to build but it was totally worth it!

"We also built snowmen and iceballs using water balloons; this is the first year both boys are old enough to really enjoy it and its been brilliant fun!"
