Smoke fills the Ashford skies

Fire crews were called to Chilmington Green last night (Thursday) after a pile of tyres caught alight.

The incident happened shortly after 4.30pm and two fire engines attended the scene.

Thick black smoke could be seen for miles across the borough.

The tyres were put out and crews spent about 90 minutes at the scene.
