Thieves break into the Kent Autistic Trust residential home in Jemmett Road, Ashford

Thieves have smashed their way into an autistic care home in Ashford.

Police are investigating the break-in at The Kent Autistic Trust home in Jemmett Road at around 8.10pm yesterday.

A window was damaged, and a handbag and some personal property belonging to a staff member was stolen.

The Kent Autistic Trust care home provides residential care to six residents and is a not-for-profit facility.

A police spokesman said: "Officers are looking at CCTV footage and carrying out forensic enquiries."
