Timpson in King's Parade, Ashford, leaves the town centre

A shop specialising in shoe repairs, key cutting and engraving has closed in the town centre.

Timpson announced that it was closing its store in King's Parade last month, with bosses saying that a lack of footfall in the town centre was behind the decision.

The shoe repairer closed to the public on Thursday October, 18.

Spokeswoman Jackie Taylor said: "We have four shops around Ashford, one of which is only a few minutes walk away from the King’s Parade branch.

"The rates for the closing branch have actually gone down, but the issue really is footfall in the town centre."

The abandoned unit sits alongside the empty Ernest Jones jewellery store, which moved out of town earlier this year.
