Two men appeared in court on Thursday following an incident in Smeeth, which involved the calling of armed police.

Myles Yarney and Steven McIntosh appeared before Ashford magistrates following the incident on Tuesday afternoon.

They are jointly charged with affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Yarney is also charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

The case concerning Yarney, 35, of North Road, Hythe, and McIntosh, 40, of Bindon Blood, Whitfield, Dover, was adjourned until September 15 for a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court.
