Two in hospital after crash blocks Canterbury Road and Simone Weil Avenue junction in Ashford

Two people were taken to hospital after a crash blocked a road in Ashford, sparking a large emergency response.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the junction of Canterbury Road and Simone Weil Avenue at about 8am.

A black Ford Titanium and red Peugeot 107 were involved, with traffic queueing in both directions.

The Ford had left the road, hitting a Simone Weil Avenue sign, while the Peugeot had been turned around and was facing oncoming traffic.

Two people were assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to William Harvey Hospital for further checks.

No serious injuries were reported.

Before the scene was cleared at 9.50am, drivers heading from Ashford towards Canterbury were diverted along Simone Weil Avenue.
